During the formation of Voltron, the sword occasionally resonates with the Black Lion's energy, allowing for enhanced cutting power when channeling planetary forces. However, prolonged activation drains the user's stamina if not connected to an external battery pack found on his suit. Ownership history remains personal to Keith; he refused Altean replacements to keep it as a reminder of his past and resolve. It has been used in duels against top Galra officers and even Emperor Zarkon himself. While effective, the blade is vulnerable to anti-energy dampeners which can temporarily deactivate the plasma edge, forcing the wielder into unarmed combat until power restores.
